No Child Left Behind Report Card Posted
The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001 requires each local education agency to disseminate district and campus data as reflected on the annual NCLB report cards. The reports include pertinent information regarding student achievement, academic expectations, Adequate Yearly Pogress, and teacher quality. The 2009 NCLB reports for our district and campuses can be accessed below. For information on how to interpret these reports, see the NCLB Report Card Glossary HERE.

District Featured in National MagazineWhen Scholastic Administrator, the leading national magazine for school leaders, wanted to write an article on the unique needs of military students, they looked no further than Fort Sam Houston ISD. They interviewed Superintendent, Dr. Gail Siller, District Instructional Technology Coordinator, Dr. Roland Rios, Cole High School Counselor, Mrs. Becky Smith, and former Cole student and Senior English teacher, Ms. Christina Bertran. The result is a great article on military children and our district's positive response to their needs. Click HERE to download a pdf version of the article, or click HERE to read the article online.

Welcome to the Fort Sam Houston Independent School District. Our faculty and staff work tirelessly to help your students learn, progress, and be successful in school. Our teachers are committed to helping students achieve their academic goals and to be prepared for their post-secondary life.
Our students benefit most when parents and community members are involved. We ask that you support your child's education by reviewing homework, showing interest in what happens in class, ensuring your student is in school on time, and communicating with teachers. Please also consider sharing your time and talents as a volunteer or mentor. Ask your child's teachers, counselors, campus administrators or your PTO or Cougar Pride Club officers how you can help make a difference in the lives of our students.
Our teachers and staff are always looking for ways to ease school transitions and enhance our students experience in our schools. Working together, we can make the Fort Sam Houston schools a great place where all students can be successful. Please call your school and get involved - your child will reap generous benefits. Your time and support are sincerely appreciated.
Gail E. Siller, Ph.D. Superintendent
