FSH Elementary School Virtual Learning Plans
Fort Sam Houston Elementary School
2020-2021 Virtual Plan
During at least the first three weeks of school (August 17 - September 7th), all Fort Sam Houston Elementary students' instruction will be delivered through asynchronous instruction.
Asynchronous instruction does not require having the instructor and student engaged at the same time during the school day. In this method, students learn from instruction that is not necessarily being delivered in-person or in real-time. This type of instruction may include various forms of digital and online learning, such as prerecorded video lessons or game-based learning tasks that students complete on their own, and pre-assigned work and formative assessments made available to students on paper.
For FSH Elementary students, their asynchronous delivery will be delivered through one of two Learning Management Systems - Google Classroom for students in Grades 1st -5th and Seesaw for students in Prek and Kindergarten. Prior to the first day of instruction, all 1st - 5th grade teachers will add their students into their Google Classrooms. When those students log in to Google Classroom they will see the join invitation from their teacher. Parents of students in Prek or Kindergarten will receive email invitations to join their child's Seesaw classes prior to the first day of class..
In our ongoing efforts to keep parents up-to-date, FSH Elementary School will exclusively use Bloomz for instant messaging/texting. Bloomz is a comprehensive multi-faceted communication tool designed especially for schools. All FSHE teachers will email or send home a "join code" to all parents for their individual classes. By activating the class account, you will automatically become a member of the larger FSHE Elementary Bloomz community and will be able to receive school-wide messages as well. More detailed information about using Bloomz will be forthcoming.
FSH Elementary students are expected to check their online class (Google Classroom or Seesaw) daily for asynchronous instruction opportunities. Attendance will be taken daily based on student online interaction. Students are also expected to complete all assignments in the timeline established by their teacher.
