Cole Middle & High School will celebrate the Month of the Military Child during April 2017. Our theme this year is Grit, Determination, and Perseverance. The Month of the Military Child is celebrated in April to highlight the courage, sacrifice, and the patriotism of our young heroes. The Month of the Military Child was established by Caspar Weinberg in 1986 (Defense Secretary) to recognize our military children. Cougar PAWS will host many activities during the month of April for our children. More information will be coming soon. In the meantime, please order your purple Month of the Military Child shirt and help us celebrate our kids. Click the headline above for an order form. The District of Innovation concept, passed by Texas Legislature, gives traditional school districts more flexibility and local control and increases a district’s ability to decide what best meets the unique needs of the students and to customize a response to those needs. Robert G. Cole Middle and High School principal, Dr. Isabell Clayton, was honored as a finalist for the 2017 H-E-B Excellence in Education Award at a surprise assembly held on Tuesday, March 7. Representatives from H-E-B, along with H.E.Buddy, made the announcement as middle and high school students cheered while Clayton accepted a $1,000 check for herself as well as a $2,500 check for the school. FSHISD conducted its first district and campus surveys to inform students, parents, staff, and other district stakeholders of perceptions in key areas. Using a continuous improvement model, district and campus teams will discuss results, gather more information if necessary, identify areas of strength and improvement needed, and develop action steps.

Two Cole students recently won awards in a local writing contest. 7th grader Arianna was a Fiction Contest finalist for “The Girl and the Bridge”. 10th grader Mia Mercer won 2nd place in the 9th/10th Grade Division for “Building Bridges: A Uniting Touch”.
These students and their teachers will be invited to introduce authors who will be making presentations at the San Antonio Book Festival on April 8, 2017.
