Required Forms for Registration

Welcome to the Fort Sam Houston Independent School District!

We are honored that you have chosen to enroll your child in our schools and look forward to working with you to ensure your child has an exceptional academic and extracurricular experience here at Fort Sam Houston ISD.

Attendance Areas and Enrollment Requirements

Joint Base San Antonio – Fort Sam Houston and Camp Bullis comprise the geographic boundaries of the Fort Sam Houston Independent School District. Children of military personnel residing on these Installations are eligible to attend Pre-Kindergarten through grade 12. Parents who do not meet this eligibility criteria may be eligible to apply for the Non-Resident Transfer (NRT) program and can learn more about the program at the NRT Student Program page. Fort Sam Houston Elementary School, 4351 Nursery Road, serves grades PK-5. Robert G. Cole Middle and High School serves grades 6 – 12 and is located at 4001 Winans Road.

Children must be four years old on or before Sept. 1 to enroll in pre-kindergarten and meet eligibility criteria established by State law. Children five years old on or before Sept. 1 may enroll in kindergarten and those six years old on or before Sept. 1 may enroll in first grade. District transportation is not provided for pre-kindergarten students.

Online Registration

Fort Sam Houston ISD will use an online process to facilitate the registration process for all students, both current and new to the District. Parents benefit as they can complete registration documents 24/7 in the convenience of their home, eliminating the need to wait in lines to fill out paper forms. The process also helps the District reduce paper waste while creating a convenient, fast and accurate online registration experience.

Returning Student Online Registration Process

Parents of students who attended FSHISD schools in the 2021-2022 school year will complete an abbreviated online registration process unless the student was withdrawn at the end of the school year or if the parents have not been assigned on post housing.

Parents will update their student's registration annually using their secure SchoolMint parent portal account. Re-registration will be available on April 11, 2022 at 8:00 a.m.

New Student Online Registration Process

Registering new students to FSHISD, requires a three-step process.  First, parents must create a SchoolMint portal account at https://fshisd.schoolmint.net/signin and second, complete enrollment application. The registration application requires parents registering students new to FSHISD to upload some documents and verify documents in person to verify eligibility.

Student not living on post will require the completion/approval of the Non-Resident Transfer application prior to the registration process.  Completing the NRT application does not constitute approval. After the District reviews the application, you will receive an email notifying you of the application decision.
