Welcome to the Division of Teaching and Learning

Fort Sam Houston ISD offers a broad selection of academic courses and electives. In addition to the core academic coursework, students can also grow in foreign languages, the arts, technology, and in other subjects. A comprehensive special education program is available for students who need additional assistance, Emergent Bilingual programs are in place to help students for whom English is not their primary language, and Gifted and Talented (GT) opportunities exist for students who need differentiated experiences.

  • The purpose of this policy is to ensure that the District provides a wide range of library materials for students and faculty that support student achievement and present varying levels of difficulty, diversity of appeal, and a variety of points of view. This policy also provides standards for collection development and the selection and evaluation of library materials.

    As an employee of Ft Sam Houston ISD or the parent of a FSHISD student, you may request a library material to be reconsidered. You can do so by submitting the electronic form linked below.

    enlightenedPriority Note: Under Texas Education Code (TEC) §33.027, a parent, district employee, or person residing in a school district may submit a written challenge to any library material in a school’s library catalog. To submit a written challenge, an eligible individual must complete and submit the Library Materials Challenge Form. In accordance with TEC §33.027, an individual completing the form must identify how the challenged library material violates library standards adopted by the Texas State Library and Archive Commission (TSLAC).
