Chromebook Care and Repair
Taking care of a Chromebook starts with simple daily habits. Students should always carry the device with two hands, close the lid gently when moving between classrooms, and ensure no pencils or papers are left on the keyboard before shutting it. Keeping food and liquids far away from the workspace prevents accidental spills, while using a soft, microfiber cloth keeps the screen free of smudges without risking scratches from harsh chemicals. Preforming restarts regulalry wil help ensure that your Chromebook runs smoothly and charging it everynight will help prolong the units battery life.
Many daily tech hiccups can be resolved in seconds without visiting putting in a Chromebook Repair Ticket. If a Chromebook freezes or won't connect to the school Wi-Fi, the quickest fix is a simple hard restart (holding down the Refresh key and pressing the Power button). For sluggish performance or missing extensions, clearing the browser cache, updating Chrome OS through the settings menu, or performing a basic hardware reset usually resolves the issue. When a problem requires an expert eye—such as a cracked screen, broken port, or total power failure—students or teachers can quickly log an official service request through Incident IQ. Users simply sign in using their school credentials, select their specific device, and choose from a menu of common symptoms. Providing a brief, clear description of what happened helps the campus tech team diagnose and repair the issue much faster.
While normal wear and tear is expected, accidental or intentional damage may incur fees. If a device requires a replacement part due to negligence, a fine is assessed based on a standardized district fee schedule for components like screens, keyboards, or lost chargers. Invoices are tracked transparently through the student account, and parents can easily view details and submit secure digital payments directly through the district's online payment portal.
